The faculty started as a department of sports education in the Faculty of Educational Sciences in the academic year 1993/1992, followed by the opening of the field of physical education. As the University expanded, its academic programs and completed its specialized faculty, the Faculties of Sports Sciences was established at the beginning of the academic year 2000/1999.
Currently, the College of Sports Science is moving (side by side with the other) faculties of the university. It is responsible for graduating of a qualified academic youth from the athletic side through the departments of Physical Education and Sports Rehabilitation. The students are taught under the supervision of a group of teachers. in cluding ayoung teachers with a scientific reputation.
Today, the faculty includes various buildings and facilities, the main one being a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 3,000 spectators, four gymnasiums, rhythmic exercises, fitness, physiology lab, computer lab, Olympic swimming pool, squash courts and multi-purpose outdoor playgrounds. At the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year, a football field surrounded by an athletics track was opened to add to the facilities of the college.
The college seeks to open a sports training section and develop its sports facilities. Based on the concept of social responsibility, the college supported been and continues to provide support to the local community by harnessing its material and human resources to serve the sector. Sports and youth in Al-Karak governorate through the opening of playgrounds, swimming pools and gymnasiums to train the sports teams classified in the province, hold specialized scientific courses for the local community, and granting local, continental and international certificates in the training and arbitration of the brain damage to sports in cooperation with sports federations and the Jordanian Olympic Committee.
